The recorded creator of Identify, was Irien, who was a Dreamseer of course and a guardian of the Order. Identify was created a bit after the first creation of the generators. In those times, they just spit out interestingly colored artifacts and not a single Dreamer could figure out what they did exactly. It was soon found that each item, depending on its colors would have different effects. So.. this industrious Dreamer, Irien, decided that she would catalouge them all, naturally a very daunting task.. So... she collected...and recorded... She also had a small break.. when she was blind and deaf for a week. When she got better, she lost another few days sputtering about the "goddamn frigging cursed pieces of...." After she had finished with that, she published her results within the Order. For a time, everyone could be seen wandering the Dream with sheafs of paper and with every item, they would diligently check her scrawled ntoes. Unfortunately, this didn't work too well as the cursed alterors followed no pattern. So, Irien worked on a way of making an Art of identifying items, which she did by creating a small poultice of every item she had, one particle from every combination of colors in the Dream. Then... she added some green food colouring, and developed the Art of Identify. She even surpassed herself, as the Art gave not only the precise effects, but often an excellent time range..Much more useful than the previous "Long" "very long" and so forth.
